This was almost too easy. Earlier that afternoon Barney had been approached by a hooded figure that had asked about a precious gem that was being hidden away on showcase in a museum. It had been known as the Blue Butterfly, a rare necklace worn way back, but there was a problem in handling this rare gem. Like any gem or gold, it had a tragic story about it between two love birds, and it was thought that the gem was cursed to anyone who wore it. But that wasn’t going to stop Barney from getting it, to him the price was too high for him to take, the money. That was the whole reason there, was for the money.
Night had fallen upon one part of New York as a young man made his way through the shadows behind the building, he had heard of this museum before, probably even went to it without knowing it as a tourist. Carefully, he took out one arrow as he came over to a window, and with a sharp edge on it he cut through the glass, it hardly made a sound since stealth was hopefully on his side today. He opened up the window and got in silently.
There were security guards parked in most of the rooms or in the front area were one would expect a tourist or civilian to come in. The guy was wasn’t really paying attention, as he was reading the newspaper, and on his cluttered desk was a fresh cup of hot coffee that he had. It was a dull job but not to night. Barney quickly took out another arrow as it was filled with a noxious gas that would knock the guy out. “It’s time for someone’s lights to go out…in one…two…three.” He whispered under his breath as the arrow went whizzing through the air, the arrow hit the desk nearby as the guy went to go look from where he was resting, but before he could do anything a clear gas entered the area as the guy ended up coughing. As he inhaled, he was out cold before he could call for an alarm to sound.
That wasn’t too bad. He snuck past the guard and began to head towards the elevator pressing the code to go down to one of the lower floors. Before him the doors opened up in lower level of the museum, and as he stood there he felt like something wasn’t right. The redheaded man knew that something was up as he looked at the floor. There were probably lasers, invisible lasers were almost everywhere in this. Sighing, he took out his next arrow as he prepared to fire it towards the nearby room from where he stood, it was a grappling arrow with two large claw like arms that could grab just about anything. He fired it, but as he did he made his first mistake as he hit the target, the glass smashed. The alarms started to go off as it rang in his ears.
INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT! SOMEONE HAS BREACHED FLOOR 5!
No doubt the alarm system had been triggered, but Barney hadn’t panicked or anything, this wasn’t his first museum heist. In fact he had done several before this. He had a feeling he’d be long gone as he began to head towards another window to open it up. Of course this alarm may also attract the unwanted visitors to the area. But the Butterfly necklace was already safe in his hands, and he was getting ready to give it to the buyer and give it a new home. “Really? You guys don’t scare me one bit. I’ve been doing this all my life.” Barney said rolling his eyes as the alarm continued. And not a moment too soon, he’d be out.

► He had gotten the call a few moments ago. Apparently, someone using arrows had broken into the Museum and was currently still there. So he grabbed his motorcycle, his own quiver, his bow as well as several other items that he secreted all over his body. He was dressed casually, as he had not had the time to change into the uniform he used when he was... avenging. He was still an assassin, a spy. A S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent and an Avenger. Though the latter di dnot feel as much as something since he wasn't supier. Or a demi god. He was just Clint Barton, Human. The only person who pretty much accepted that was natasha. She was his best friend. Though others made comments that they were more than friends. He wasn't someone to kiss and tell, so he wasn't going to tell them anything that they di dnot need to know even if there was nothing there. Theyw orked together, and most of the time did not need to say anything. Plus she was one of the few people that knew about his hearing loss. When they used ASL around the rest of the team, they just chalked it up to the two of them not really wanting to join in the comnversation. The thing was, they were having a conversation and often to the point made jokes about their teammates. Like the fact that Thor was obsessed with poptarts.
He parked a quarter block away so that his bike wasn't blocked in by the security vehicles. The police called S.H.I.E.L.D. who in turn called him and told them that they were sending a specialist. Yeah.. he was a specialist alright. Dressed in a S.H.I.E.L.D.issued jacket, he grabbed the baseball cap that also had the logo on it. Clipping his badge to his jacket, he slid his quiver over his shoulder and then the bow. He also placed his arrow guard on his arm before making his way towards where a command post had been set up. He was surprised that they had gotten there so quickly. if he was trying to rob the place, the first thing that would have happened was that he would not have set off the alarm. He would have disabled it. Then he would have taken what he was there for and then made his way back out of the museum before they even knew something was up. Amateur.
The cameras showed someone in one of the galleries, someone that looked familiar. So within a few moments, the choice was made. He decided to go into the Museum, of course stealthily. He was good at that. Mostly the training he had over the years as well as the many solo missions he made, he was able to do things that a great deal of toehrs could not. So when he got to the gallery and saw the figure, he cleared his voice, and spoke rather loudly to someone that he had not spoken to in many years. "Really Barney? Stealing my schtick?"

"Well if it ain’t my favorite brother.” The tone from his voice had been sarcastic and had a bit of a southern drawl from it. Barney was almost like a mercenary in his own way, he was the guy who usually worked for the highest bidder and often got the most money out of it. But what surprised Barney the most was that Clint had come alone. He noticed that Clint had come alone, and there may have been a good reason for it. What happened to his Avenger Buddies? It may have been better if it was just the two brothers. That was fine by him. He was just out to do his mission and send the Blue Butterfly on its way. It’s a shame if the object got destroyed in the fight, but he’d make sure that didn’t happen.
“Where are your Avenger buddies? They didn’t bother worrying about me? Or have they been spread out too thin with other groups like the Dark Syndicate or Brotherhood?” Barney said as he stood up right from where he was. The sarcastic and teasing tone came back. There was no respect for his brother this time around.
“Regardless, I don’t care about those small fry. I’m here for the big money and it looks like I’ve got it.” He said knowing if he said too much he might as well be giving out the rest of his plan. Supposedly there was another group forming that appeared to be the very opposite of the Avengers, and he wanted in. Just to see his brother panic and run tail tucked between his legs. But that wasn’t his brother, not one bit; he wouldn’t run away like that. But he would enjoy seeing it when it did happen.
“By the way here’s a present from me on welcoming you back. I know it’s been ages since we’ve seen each other.” He said as he carefully put the Blue Butterfly in a red pouch on his utility belt that he had around his waist. With that out of his hands, he carefully went for his next trick as he went and grabbed an arrow. Once he had it in hand he carefully aimed it up to his bow and fired, making a whizzing noise in the air as it ticked down. It was armed with an explosive. Tick…tick…tick… As it counted down it would only give the two brothers a matter of seconds to move as Barney began to back up towards the very window that he had exited and would leave through once more.

► He had always known that whatever had happened to the two of them when they were at the carnival had done something dire to Barney. He was no longer the older, protective brother that he had always been. Gone was the brother who taught him how to defend himself against the bullies that thought it would be fun to pick on him when they were younger. As he was the younger brother, he had not grown up to be the smaller brother. They actually were equal in build, but Clint had a lot more training than Barney. Mostly through the skills he learned when he became a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent. Plus with his natural acrobatic ability, he had learned a long time ago to use what he had to his advantage. So even though he was standing there, leaning against the opening, casually, he was far from it.
You see that was the difference between Barney and Clint now. Barney no longer knew who he was, let alone what he could do. And even with his chiding about the Avengers, Clint did not allow it to bother him. While it did bother him that Barney had gone so far south. over the years he had tips about where Barney was, and it was never anything good. Nat knew about his brother and had offered to help him find him, but he had refused. While he wished Barney was doing well, and the fact that he had offered him a place, Barney had refused and they had gone their separate ways. But now, as he stood there, he watched everything Barney had done and saw that he was putting a necklace into a pouch on his belt. "Still always talking too much." That was one of Barney's faults, he talked too much. It gave people the time to see what he was doing even though he knew Barney thought it was a distracting tactic.
So of course when Barney shot the arrow, he had something in his hand that he shot towards Barney's feet. It was a handheld grabble/bola that he often used to trip people up, which he did as he ran towards Barney and the window. Grabbing him, he used another item that connected to the window frame so that as they two of them went out the window, it held them as they fell, hitting the ground in an audible escape of air. But as he still had a hold of the device that had wrapped around Barney's ankles, he quickly got up and grabbed at it so Barney could not get up.

“Maybe I could ask the same thing to you. You’ve been so quiet it’s like I’m talking to a ghost.” Barney described. But before he could do anything else, it appeared that his brother got the upper hand. Sure the explosive may have caused some rare artifacts or special objects to go flying, and probably damaged the wall. But the museum was still standing. The members of the museum were going to have a fit, but that was not his problem. He had two things to deal with, his brother and as well as getting the Butterfly to safety…and to a certain buyer.
Before Barney could say anything he felt his feet come out from under him as he hit the ground pretty hard. Glass could be smashed and heard as the two held out the window. But while the two were in the fight the Blue Butterfly disappeared before he could get it, his hands and feet were tied. As it fell it seemed to rattle across the ground, as it skipped and hopped it fell between the gaping holes in a sewer and down into the drain. That was the problem with cities, they were so big that you could lose just about anything. That butterfly was probably long gone and the museum wouldn’t be able to get it back.
“So your SHIELD buddies have been treating you well. But while that all happened you made me loose what I came here for. Notice something missing?” Barney asked as he tried to get his hands loose, but they were still together. Sure the circus had taught him a few tricks but he happened to note that he was in a bind. Carefully he began to reach for one of his sharp arrows knowing that while he was talking he might be able to distract his brother…Eh that didn’t sound good anymore. They weren’t brothers. In fact, they were far from it.
It seemed like he was in an awkward pose at this point as his feet and hands were tied up. But Barney was tricky and smart, something that Clint probably knew very well over the years. He still had his bow and arrow, but escaping in front of a blink of an eye would probably be a magic trick for it. His name was Trickshot, he could probably pull it off. “Let me guess… You’re here to turn me in or interrogate me on the spot?” He said rolling his eyes knowing he had been through this before. He’d escape while Clint had his back turned.

► This wasn't the same Barney that he grew up with. Gone was the older brother who did whatever he could to protect him from their father and then later bullies. He knew that Barney had a propensity to turn into someone like their dad, but he had hoped he did not. Looking at him now, he wasn't sure this man was even his brother anymore and that maybe, just maybe it was time to stop thinking that there was stills ome good in his brother. It was time to sever their connection. Make it so that if anything were to happen, no one would contact him. he was through with his brother. it hurt, and he did not show it. Maybe later he would drink himsmelf stupid, but right now? He just did what they asked him to do and that was to take in the bow and arrow clad theif, who was not him.
He saw the shot and did what he had to in order not to die. He wasn't fond of death having gotten close in his adventures as a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent. Hell, Nat patched him up enough times that he was no longer embarrassed if she saw him naked. Well, no, he was never embarrassed, but when you were attracted to your partner, it made things... awkward. Now that they were on the ground and Barney subdued, he stood back again, making the call for the Law to come and take him. "Actually, I believe that's on you. How could you forget that putting things it outside pockets gives you a better chance of losing something." And he called himself a thief. You ALWAYS put things in the inner pocket that either zipped or snapped shut.
As he waited Barney just could not shut up. It was actually irritating. And despite the fact that he, himself was not saying much, he knew this tactic. A certain Spider kid would often speak too much. Stark often did as well but Stark always had to have a monolog whenever he could. He was so glad when he could turn off his hearing aids and sleep when that happened. Only Nat noticed when he would do that. Thankfully when he was out in the field, he could work alone or with his partner close by. "They thought it was me here, so when they called me and got me, they wanted me to investigate. I had a feeling it would be you, but I had hoped that it wasn't. Too bad I was disappointed."

“Well then, I’ll just have to remember it next time. And that's too bad.” He said with a sigh. Their patience was thinning and he could just tell by the way Clint’s voice was. And his was too. So he was disappointed? Well that’s too bad. But he knew next time he wouldn’t make the mistake again.
Barney could tell that Clint was irritated. He was the quiet boy most of the time, no now he was a man at most. The Avengers would always be on his side and so that was how things were going. He may have been angry but what was it all for? For some stupid argument and jealousy that had been there from so long ago? There were always going to be villains out there and sometimes they changed sides, they had a choice. But Barney had been gambling since day one as he heard about a new team that would form soon, and he knew it would bother Clint mentioning it.
The Dark Avengers were the exact opposite of the Avengers. They caused terror wherever they went and not even close to being heroes. Mockeries, copies, whatever you wanted to call them they were just out there to cause destruction. “You really are sick and tired of me aren’t you? I can read it on your face.” He said as he began to work on cutting away with the wire, it’d take a bit of time, but he knew he could stall before he could get what he had come here for…and it looked like he was going to go to the sewers.
“It may seem all fine and dandy now, you’ve got your Avenger friends with you. But there is darkness on the horizon.” He said as he heard one silent snap amongst the New York City Traffic. His arm was free and now he’d work on the rest of it. “Read my lips that the Dark Avengers are coming.” He said wondering if that would send a chill down his brother’s back just like it did sometimes on a cold rainy day when they had forgotten his jacket.
“Just think of it. All the bad guys everyone’s ever faced right in front of you. It’ll be great.” He said with a chuckle. He could think about it now. Venom, Spider-Man’s villain there, and himself there as well for Clint, then there would be one for Super Soldier as well. It’d all fit into place. And with that he managed to get his arm out and reached for one of his arrows back behind him as it appeared to be an iced arrow pointing it back at Clint, this was something that he might not expect. The night was young and they had all night to tango.
