It had been a long flight from Atlanta to New York, or it felt like it at least. Between the waiting, boarding, flying between the two cities, to unboarding and getting a taxi...it had been a long morning. She had gotten a nap the previous day to get a late night/early morning flight and had finally gotten to her hotel room at eight in the morning. To say Corrine was tired was an understatement and she wanted to take another nap but her excitement to see the Big Apple was too much to ignore. Sure she was there for the week for a job interview at one of the departments for a CSI position but that didn't mean she couldn't go sight seeing.
In fact, that was what the young woman had every intention of doing as she left the hotel, making a quick note of the street it was on and any identifiable landmarks. This was the first time she had there and didn't want to take the risk of getting lost, that would be rather embarrassing and she would have to learn this place anyway if she got the job. Though whether she would continue to be Aegis when she got there was another matter. Corrine watched and listened to the news, thus she was aware that there were many heroes located within this part of the state among others and she felt some intimidation that she may be treading on others' territories. But then again New York was a big place, which meant those heroes were no doubt spread out among the different parts and probabaly stuck to their neighborhoods and the surrounding areas. So maybe she didn't have to worry about stepping on others toes that much.
But for now she put this at the back of her mind as she strolled down the busy sidewalk, ignoring the constant hustle and bustle of the streets since she was use to it in Atlanta. Honestly, it felt no different from her home in the south so it didn't quite bother her. Her eyes roamed over the many stores, restaurants, and other places of business with trying to find some place that looked good or familiar until she spotted a cafe shop. Now that looked promising!
Quickening her pace and feeling her stomach growl at the prospect of food, Corrine didn't take long to arrive and step inside smelling a mix of different breakfast foods, coffee, tea, and other morning smell. It made her mouth water at the thought of trying it and she stepped up to the line to look at the menu. She didn't take long to decide though and came to the next free register, ordering a pepper jack cheese jalapeño bagel sandwich with egg, cheese, and hickory smoked bacon. It sounded like heaven to her then and she couldn't wait to try it, much less get food on her stomach. With that thought in mind she paid for her food and got her receit to wait, moving aside to find a spot at a high rising table, setting her bag down on the seat and stood by the chair as she patiently waited.
What made the place even better was that it was warm inside, which was a welcoming change to the chilly air outside which was why she wore dark blue jeans, long sleeved red violet colored shirt over a darker toned under shirt, a slightly heavy navy blue jacket, and black sneakers with her hair pulled back in a ponytail. "Just hope this wait isn't long." The young woman muttered, seeming to not notice the looks she was getting due to the ionic gases currently exuding from parts of her form.

The Avengers these days seemed kind of slow, and if anything Pietro hated that word. So he found himself out on the streets minding his own business, he was of course wearing his usual blue sweatshirt and blue jeans, it almost reminded him of his costume. But what was a bit different this time around, was he had white headphones in both of his ears, as he listened to music. Having grown up in a rather poor part of the country music intrigued him quite a bit as he enjoyed it. Even some of the music was face paced and enjoyable in his opinion. In fact the faster the better, that was just how he rolled.
“Mmm.” He said softly as if he were mumbling the words to himself. Walking down the roads of New York that he probably should be looking at but he really wasn’t paying that much attention. Everything around him seemed to be slow and appeared to be moving as if they were almost in a freeze frame to him. He couldn’t help it that his super hero powers couldn’t turn off, his brain worked much faster than others so he was fast to react to others.
As h walked he was getting closer towards the café that Corrine had gone in to but once again his blue eyes were facing the ground more towards his feet. But he wasn’t paying attention as he slammed right into someone he hadn’t met before, didn’t even know exsisted until right now. He fell to the ground, but quickly put his hands out before he could scrape up his hands. But he could hear the man yelling through his headphones, he made his first mistake of the day. Just great, it was starting all over again. “Heay! Watch where you’re going kid!” The man yelled at the top of his lungs. Great, he was getting some flash backs of living with his parents, they were treated so badly there, and it was echoing back towards New York again.
“I’m sorry sir that I was looking the wrong way, maybe not even looking at the streets like I should’ve been doing. But you don’t need to yell at me like I’m a five year old.” Pietro said with such a fast pace talk it took awhile for the man to understand what he said. He was used to standing up for his sister, so this was nothing new. “I’m sorry.” He said rather bluntly, to be honest he couldn’t carless if the guy didn’t like him or not. But it seemed to be a little futile with trying to reason this man, he continued to yell and ramble away and before he could get anywhere else with the speedster, he quickly went into the café where another young woman was just ordering a sandwhich, compared to that crazy guy out here, it was probably heaven in this building.
“People these days, you can’t live with them can you?” Pietro asked hoping he hadn’t caused a scene for the others. But as he watched the man as he started to leave he realized he may as well have caused a scene, but using his super hero powers and trying to keep it a secret was much harder. And so far, he had been struggling with trying not to use his powers and keeping his identity a secret. “Sheesh.” He muttered again.

Corrine's order luckily didn't take that long at all. One of the workers soon called her order number and she came to the counter to get the sandwich, carefully wrapped and still hot, smelling amazing and making her stomach growl audible which made her wonder if anyone could hear it now. It amused her a bit, probably more than it should. But it never hurt to be amused by things in life, its what made it worth living and right now she was definitely looking forward to living to eat that sandwich.
But she had barely grabbed her food before she heard yelling and like others turned to see exactly what was going on. It seemed a man was yelling at another, which from the look of things Pietro had accidently collided with the man and was just picking himself up while the man seemed in a sour mood. This place was definitely more like Atlanta than she initially thought, having seen such encounters which could quickly go bad to even a fist fight or something along those lines. Even more deadly even. And she half wondered if it was fixing to get ugly now, something that made Corrine instinctively tighten her grip on her food and her other hand clench in preparation to step in a break up a fight before it got too bad, at this point not caring to hide how she could use her powers.
Luckily though, the younger man quickly ducked inside to avoid a further earful from the older one who seemed to realize how childish he looked yelling and making a scene. Thus he resumed his business while the white haired individual seemed to just be glad to avoid further trouble. And as Corrine approached her table she overheard Pietro's words, casting him a sympathetic glance. "I wouldn't sweat it too much, Atlanta isn't much different. Look at anyone wrong you could even have a gun fight in the middle of a mall parking lot, but I can assume it's no better here either." Corrine told him as she set her wrapped food down for a moment and turned to Pietro.
"You can sit with me if you don't feel like going back out there just in case he decides to come back the moment you leave here. After that, might help to have a friend to avoid him coming back anyway." Corrine invited. She knew he was a stranger and she probably was jumping on a chance to trust a stranger but she also was being a good samaritan who didn't want to see someone get in further trouble over something relatively stupid.

Pietro blinked in surprise as he heard a voice nearby and there was another young woman who was talking to him about the fight that he nearly avoided. Apparently she had seen the whole thing along with the other members of the café as they were busy at work. He felt bad that a fight nearly happened at their door, but it couldn’t have been avoided, he really hadn’t been looking up and paying more attention to the side walk. “Yeah I guess you’re right.” He said talking relatively fast, it appeared as if he was using his ‘quick talk’ as he sometimes called it. He was sometimes hard to understand, but he tried to catch himself before he often went on a ramble and no one could understand him. “thanks for being understanding, you at least got it right on the nail, where I’m from it would’ve been the same situation all over again.” Pietro said with a sigh remembering the problem that had come to his father who had tried to steal bread from the market and it ended up costing his life. Pietro and Wanda nearly escaped, but coming to the United States had probably been the best idea they had.
Though he seemed to be mentally thinking if it was a good idea or not sitting with a complete stranger, she seemed friendly enough and if she didn’t want him there he’d leave. The young speedster decided to sit down next to her on the other booth and he heard her give her name towards him. He figured he may as well give his civilian name back to her in return. “My name’s Pietro Maximoff. And thank you for letting me sit with you, I’m grateful if I could sit here for a few minutes while that guy burns his anger off and return to the streets.
“So what brings you to this part of New York? There’s not much here aside from the large buildings and sky scrapers. My sister and I came all the way out here from Germany to try and get a better life.” Pietro said well he was at least telling half truth in this situation. He knew if he revealed his powers to some woman he didn’t know things may once again end badly. And not to mention they were being persecuted by humans who didn’t understand mutants, treated as if they were almost vile. But here he and Wanda could at least attempt to get a better life and live one where they wouldn’t have to be looking over his shoulder every couple of minutes.
He wanted to mentally kick himself, there he went again with running his mouth. “Also I’m sorry if I’m talking too fast, my sister tries to remind me from time and time again that I need to slow down. I kind of call it my ‘quick talk.’” He said knowing just about everything he did had to do with his powers. He relied on his speed a lot, and if he was born a regular human he probably wouldn’t know what to do with himself.

"My name is Corrine Voclain, it's nice to meet you Pietro." Corrine introduced herself as well, sitting across from the speedster seeming to not mind sitting with a stranger. Quite frankly, she would prefer his company over the person similar to the guy he had nearly gotten in a fight with. And she didn't get any weird, bad vibes so she could assume she was making the right call in inviting him to sit. Besides it wasn't like he was going to be there the entire time and neither was she, eventually she planned to look around the Big Apple. But right now she didn't mind taking time talking to Pietro and also eating of which she was already opening her bagel sandwich as she spoke.
Though she took a quick bite as he began asking about why she was there and explaining the obvious. Though she was surprised to hear he was from Germany, mainly because he didn't seem to have an accent. Did Germans even have them? "Oh well, I'm coming from down south near Atlanta, so you could say I'm use to this sort of thing. Go there often enough it's not much different." Corrine admitted as she paused to take another bite, feeling her stomach growl and no doubt appreciating the food. "But I'm mainly here for a job interview actually. I'm looking to get a crime scene investigator job here at some point hopefully. Figured I'd take the week vacation though and get to know the place." She explained to him, seeming hopeful about her prospects but anything could happen at this rate.
Though she merely chuckled in amusement for the apology, "No worries Pietro, I have a tendency to do that too sometimes. I get told a lot to slow down so don't sweat it." She assured him, not seeming to realize it had to do with his mutant abilities where as her own was habit. But it was clear she too was a mutant with the ion gases floating from her very being.

"It's nice to meet you also, Corrine." Pietro said in return as he looked at her for a bit, it seemed like he was trying his best to remember her in case they ran into each other again in the near future. But anything was possible these days, especially when you count the fact that he nearly ran across the water to get to the United States. Though with his fast metabolizm it probably didn't hurt to even get a sandwhich but his thoughts had been else where, if needed he was going back to the Avengers building to make sure he had some snacks there, but Wanda had pointed out at one time that he should probably carry a few on him if he was gone for some time.
"Wow good luck with getting the job, I've heard some crime scene investigators are needed now a days especially with the villain and super heros going through the roof. It'd be a good job and an interesting one too." Pietro said with a soft nod. To be honest he wasn't entirely sure what he'd want to do for an occupation. The twins were more focused on saving their own hides more than anything. So a job wasn't really on their mind. It appeared that his first job as of now was to work with the Avengers. But he wasn't entirely sure if he should even mention that to the young woman. Boy was keeping an alter ego tough but he knew he might accidently run his mouth off, which was hard. He got excited at times and said things he didn't always mean. But anyways, he was at least glad that Corrine was going out to try and pursue her dream. And he hoped that she'd get it.
But he seemed to have a certain amount of gambling going on and sighed, "Well the reason why I have this quick talk is because of my powers." He said almost clenching his fist. "I can run at high speeds. I almost did it in front of that guy who was so angry but there didn't seem any room really to do it." He admitted half wondering if he should even tell her this. Would she think he was crazy? There was that fear once again that he may be chased away since they simply didn't understand. And he didn't like it.

Corrine took a few bites of her sandwich as she let Pietro talk, giving him a quick glance as he gave her the good luck. There was a look of hope and confidence in her eyes showing she wasn't utterly worried, although there would always be that hint of apprehension and uncertainty since jobs were hard to get and there was always another candidate out there trying to get the same position. Quite frankly though New York was big, it had several departments and no doubt could offer a few new CSI positions if they wanted to she was certain. There was always a demand for certain positions and she figured she might be making a decent gamble.
"Heroes and villains on the rise is nothing new. Get it all the time where I live, here the news from across the country so I'm not surprised." Corrine agreed, recalling a time or two there had been some superpowered thug or suspect who had committed a crime and she had tp help investigate it. Although she herself had been part of some scenes where she had later had to help make investigations but managed to cover her tracks. Being a vigilante brought her on the outside of the law, acting against it even and she was suppose to be upholding it. Kind of strange really but she still remain dedicated to her job on both ends of the spectrum. Not to mention a college career might she add, though she also hadn't been a vigilante that long much less had her powers for very long either.
Though she perked up when Pietro explained his fast talk and that he had powers. Did this mean he was a mutant like her? It did make her curious but she was surprised to find that he seemed anxious of letting her know as if he expected her to say something or be disgusted. "You have powers, so what? In case you've missed the billowing purple clouds literally coming of my body, you're pretty much preaching the choir here. Most likely I would have just put up my ionic shell and kept on walking, he wasn't worth the trouble." Corrine said as if this had pretty much become routine. Because they had to face it, they were who they were and were born that way. "If you're a mutant like me can't help how you are born Pietro. Just have to handle the issues that come with it."

Even though he only knew Corrine for a couple of minutes, he liked her almost instantly. If one thing was good for Pietro, he was good at making quick judgments, especially if his life was on the line. She was different than the other people that he had met especially with most of his life in Germany with his sister. There were only a very few kind people that he could find, let alone ones that would have helped out two mutants. But Pietro wondered if he befriended Corrine if the two would meet again in the middle of New York. But who knew, the world is a mysterious place out there? “I suppose you’re right. I guess in Germany My sister and I didn’t meet any mutants out where we lived. The humans there definitely didn’t understand us.” He said shaking his head, and it appeared here that things were a little bit more different. If you looked in the right places, you might find some people who were accepting.
“Yes I am a mutant; both my sister and I gained our powers right around the teenaged years of our lives. I’d say it was rather interesting. But I’ve never seen powers like yours before. Maybe we both can give demonstrations later to show each other what we can do? I mean if you’re up for it.” He said noticing the gaseous clouds around the young woman. Suppose his were a lot easier to hide, except for that white hair of his. Not too many people he knew had white hair either; it might as well make him unique in his own way.
“You give out good advice." Pietro remarked. "I can say I’ve always enjoyed the super speed, I’ve learned a lot about it while using it. I can run so fast I can make a tornado. I can even shake the ground like an earthquake is going off too.” He said knowing that running so fast at high speeds for long periods of times could even exhaust him causing him to rest. Probably the longest of times he went was almost for a day straight for running. That was a mistake he would later come to regret since he was just downright exhausted. “So what can your powers do? I think I’ve done enough bragging for a week.” He said realizing he might’ve run his mouth again with the topic on his powers. Well there was no denying it hat he was a bit excited now talking about this since he really only had his sister. They sure did have a lonely world with each other.

“If you wanted to find more mutants I’d recommend the larger cities; a lot of people tend to congregate to them after all. It wouldn’t surprise me if mutants felt going into the city would be easier to hide, or at the very least blend in.” Corrine said with a nod, having felt she met or found most mutants in the city than in rural areas. Other times she wondered if they did stay in the country and were even more difficult to find or distinguish from animals or humans from time to time. Then again, she hadn’t really been out of the country, much less where Pietro and his sister had lived so it was hard to say if what he said was true or not about the lack of mutants in the area. Even if there wasn’t there was bound to be some superhuman lurking about who you couldn’t notice at first.
Though she paused for a bit to let Pietro boast and explain about his powers as she continued to eat. From the sounds of it, superhuman speed could have a lot more benefits then it sounded and she could find herself fascinated about the possibilities. Though at the same time she couldn’t see how one could be able to think, much less be able to just sit and relax. Did Pietro ever have those concerns? Have to deal with never being able to just have an idle moment if he wanted to? It was a curiosity but at the same time Corrine didn’t want to seem as if she was intruding or pressing for more information. Sure she liked to learn and research, but sometimes such quests for knowledge could be invasive and personal.
But when he asked about her own powers and even suggested a demonstration, Corrine paused from her last bite, swallowing what she had been chewing before. She felt a tad embarrassed to explain that unlike most she was a relatively late bloomer in her powers but Pietro had told her quite a bit about himself, so it couldn’t hurt to tell him more about her. “Well, I’m guess what you could call a late bloomer with my powers Pietro. I was twenty at the time my powers were triggered, but it happened when me and my mother stopped for dinner in Atlanta and some gang members attacked. In all the chaos my mother got harmed though, so I used them to protect her.” She explained, mainly to give some background on how she even got them. But the memory always made her cringe, knowing she probably could have come close to losing her mother. “But my powers aren’t that notable, mean I use gas for crying out loud.” She mused, trying to make a joke but it probably was a terrible one.
Nevertheless, she leaned back against the booth, “And I can use the ionic gases to create an exoskeleton for defense, it’s kinda useful actually since I can extend to others around me. Think of it as like a second skin.” She began as she considered her other abilities. “I can sometimes make weapons out of the shell or change it’s shape. Think the most real destructive thing I can use the gases for as well is creating discharges of energy, kind of like a grenade.” She explained, knowing her powers probably sounded plain compared to Pietro’s own abilities.

“That is some good advice right there, Corrine. Maybe we can try to see if there are others. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if there are other heroes in this city, it’s just one of many.” Pietro agreed with a soft nod. He couldn’t help it, but even though a couple of minutes had passed, he checked to see if that angry guy was still there. But nope he wasn’t. That made him feel better as his eyes went back towards Corrine a s she spoke. She had his full attention, even if it was a bit all over the place to make sure that guy didn’t come back. Well, if he really did push him, Pietro could ‘accidently’ trip the guy to make him fall flat on his face. He’d go by so fast he wouldn’t even know what hit him and that made him chuckle a bit. At least there were some good perks about having super speed.
“Sorry I was just checking to see if that guy came back, and from the looks of things he’s wandered down another street to go yell at someone else.” He said not caring if someone else got yelled at for a change. Maybe that other time they probably deserved it. Well, Corrine was right; Pietro often had his anxious moments in life where he couldn’t sit still. His super speed made it worse as he found himself pacing around the room.
“That sounds pretty interesting if you ask me. Your powers are unique in your own way.” Pietro explained as he listened to how Corrine gave an explanation of her powers. But her story sounded a bit familiar, at least the way Pietro had protected his sister time and time again from those who didn’t understand how their powers worked. But he could see why mutants wanted to hide from others and stay out of sight. Or the other part was, they just wanted to make a living and find a better life for themselves. “I’m glad you were at least able to protect your mother. I’ve often had to take charge and protect my sister from time and time again. I really do think she can handle herself but heay having a brother around sometimes helps.” Pietro said not wanting to try and take all the credit for it but he knew the siblings were almost inseparable (Of course not counting now when he wasn’t with her).
“You know I do have one other ability that causes things to explode. It has a fancy wording to it…molecu…lar…excel…eration.” He said knowing he wasn’t a scientist or anything but it was often hard for him to try and explain. “I can shake the ground to cause minor earthquakes or even try to make things explode by shaking them like mad. But it takes a lot of energy out of my feet sometimes.” He admitted knowing even his feet got tired from running around so much.

Corrine couldn’t help giving Pietro another sympathetic look, understanding why he might be anxious and worried about the guy coming back. He sounded like he had been quite rude and woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, making her shake her head. Some people these days…they were rude, quick tempered, and couldn’t accept an apology anymore. It was quite sad in her opinion but it seemed Pietro got something amusing out of it, making her look at him curious with his chuckle. Perhaps he was thinking of some payback with his powers, which she could only imagine what that could involve.
“I suppose all our powers are interesting, though sometimes they can be a pain. Getting a job certainly proves a concern since I know some people don’t know if the gases billowing out of my body are harmless or not.” Corrine sighed, frowning as she recalled the uncertain looks of the hiring board with her current job. Luckily, her reassurances and some testing had showed she was telling the truth and had meant no harm. But she tried to push this to the back of her mind as she focused back on Pietro. “Maybe I’m just thinking it over too much. I tend to do that, but it does make me worry about getting the job here.” She admitted to him, eating the last bit of her sandwich and being sure to listen as Pietro spoke once more.
Molecular acceleration? That sounded interesting. She took a moment to consider the words, trying to recall her science words way back when and past researching of when she was bored. “Oh, so you accelerate someone’s or something’s molecules to become overexcited or stimulated and trigger a heated response. Sounds good for those times you need to open a door.” Corrine said with awe, wondering what else that could cause. Though the earthquakes sounded interesting also. “Maybe if there is a flood or something to could open the ground with an earthquake, might come in handy.” She suggested, although there was some slight teasing since she had doubts that would happen with New York City any time soon. Although, anything was possible since it attracted heroes and villains like a magnet.
With finishing her meal though, Corrine felt it was time to leave the café but she glanced back at Pietro, “How about we continue our conversation outside? I was going to sight see for a little bit, doesn’t hurt to have company.” Corrine offered to him as she stood before smiling. “And probably wouldn’t hurt to have someone watching your back in case that guy comes back at the first opportunity to yell at you.” She added.

“Yeah I suppose it can be tough sometimes living like that not every power out there is something you can keep hidden. I can relate with my sister, she’s had a tough time with it.” Pietro admitted knowing her chaos magic can often times be rough or even worse almost caused them trouble where they were forced to move around in Europe quite a bit. But he wasn’t going to abandon his sister, she was really probably the only thing that kept him sane these days, and if he didn’t have her he didn’t know what he’d do with his life. “I can understand why you’re worried, but don’t over think it or over worry yourself. Sometimes having a rapid thought like myself often leads to thinking too hard and it well hurts my brain kind of.” PIetro suggested, knowing if he talked to someone about his problem or even to Wanda things usually worked out, or they didn’t seem as bad as they once were.
“That’s an idea, I never thought it like that, but I think using that kind of speed in the city might cause some dangerous moments, so I’ve got to be careful.” Pietro admitted a he thought about it. It was true he could control the speeds of how fast it went or how slow the shaking would be allowed.
He perked up a bit more as Corrine suggested going outside for a bit, after she was done eating. “Sure I wouldn’t mind doing site seeing, before I ran into that guy I think I was just wandering around parts of New York I hadn’t seen before…so I guess that’s sightseeing?” He suggested as he stood up after Corrine. He did wonder if it was going to be a good idea to show her Avengers Tower, well it stood out like a sore thumb in this area so it was hard to miss.
“I was trying to find one building here that might peak an interest to you; it’s called the Avengers building.” He admitted but he hadn’t said anything yet about him and Wanda living there just yet. It was after all the headquarters for a lot of super heroes. So it’d come out eventually he just wasn’t sure when that time would be yet. Regardless, he opened up the door and left it open so Corrine could come out too to at least show he was polite in some areas. He owed the Maximoffs for teaching himself and his sister a lot about the world, but he wasn’t going to end up like those people who hunted them down so long ago. He wanted to be someone different and make a difference in the world.

"Guess we all share some problems when it comes to powers. Some you can hide and some you just can't, guess it comes with lack of control or not fully knowing what you can do." Corrine agreed, wondering if the gas coming from her form were only the beginning of something more. So far she had not see anything else that might come of her form other than what she currently knew. But Pietro seemed to already know all of what he was capable of which she felt some envy for. Though it was very minute, especially since he had had his powers for far longer than she had and even his sister might have a better understanding of what she could do or what she was capable of even if not fully in control.
Pushing these thoughts aside, Corrine merely smiled as she followed Pietro outside. "Well, I meant you could use some of that stuff when the need is dire. Never know what sort of trouble could come this way you know? If New York is anything like Atlanta trouble could be brewing around the corner and you won't see it coming." She told him as she glanced around for a moment, seeming to have expect the angered man to come running around the corner ready to deck Pietro for his escape and ignoring him before. It wouldn't surprise her if someone was that crazy enough to come back for revenge for the stupidest reasons, making her sometimes feel these things were definitely cringe worth.
"Maybe, or you just haven't gotten to see all of New York despite living here. So much for the super human speeds." Corrine teased, giving Pietro a smile but showing she was just giving him some harmless fun before she considered where to go from there. Where did exactly one start when visiting New York? Atlanta had been bad enough but this was a whole other ball game, different city, different laws, different rules.
Though that was when Pietro mentioned the famous Avengers Building. She had heard of it and only seen it on the news but never in person, making her perk up immediately. "Hey if you know the way, lead on Pietro. At the moment I have no other ideas of where to go since this place is new to me. It's like a maze here, I only know how to get back to my hotel and that's it." Corrine said with a sheepish chuckle, showing she was obviously not from around there and it would take time before she fully navigated herself around the city. But eventually she would know, especially if she wound up staying there permanently for her job fresh out of college. But she obviously seemed to suspect nothing of who Pietro truly was.

Well Pietro did have a lot of time on his hands when he was out in Germany well when it was peaceful at least. He and Wanda practiced when they could and on occasions when they got too close to civilians things often took a turn to the worse and they once again had to flee. But New York wasn’t half bad of a place, except for the usual suspects of bad guys, villains and so on. But here he actually felt like he had a chance in the world and perhaps Corrine did as well. He was however lucky and glad to see that guy who he ran into was nowhere to be found. It appeared he probably walked home or even took a Taxi to the next part of town to where he’d cause mayhem.
“I suppose you’re right on both of those statements. Some people have a tough time controlling their powers. And you’ve got a right to defend yourself as well if there is trouble brewing soon. I think Wanda and I have gotten lucky since we haven’t really come across much in the ways of villains…it’s been quiet which is weird.” Pietro pointed out knowing there may have been a lack of activity here and there, but the silence was never a good thing, especially prolonged silence.
And on another note, if the big guy did come back, Pietro could at least defend himself; maybe even throw a few punches before the guy knew what happened to get him disorientated. It made him chuckle a bit at the thought, the guy would look like he had just seen stars floating above him. But perhaps avoiding a fight had been the right thing to do here. “Well when you go that fast everything kind of blurs together. Maybe I can take you on a super speed run one day to see how it looks…It’s kind of colorful sometimes too.” Pietro offered wondering if Corrine really wanted to see how fast he went if he held onto her. But some other people weren’t really used to that type of speed or often lost their lunch on the way….and that was just gross.
“And sure I can lead the way. The Avengers building is a few blocks from where we are right now.” Pietro offered knowing you couldn’t miss it from the sky. The building had the famous A marked on it on top and it was such a high building it stood out from the other skyscrapers.
“Ok so I haven’t been so truthful with you Corrine,” Pietro paused wondering how she’d take this next part. Maybe she’d really like the idea or maybe not. It was hard to tell from the looks of things. “Wanda and I are actually both Avengers.” Pietro said knowing he wasn’t the only super hero in the Avengers building, there were plenty of others out there.

“When you have powers you just have to find that balance if possible. Not everyone is going to like you but you can do with what you got.” Corrine said, already knowing what it was like to feel out of place long before her powers. Her childhood had been spent moving every two to three years but it hadn’t been power related like Pietro and his sister. So she could definitely understand the frustrations of moving so often and not feeling like you belonged somewhere, which seemed to be something else the two had in common.
To be honest, she didn’t really know what New York would have in store for her. There was so much here in terms of what to do and what to expect, it almost felt overwhelming to think she could start living in this crazy city. Villains, heroes, and neutrals flocked here like birds to the beach when there were people around with food. Crime was already difficult enough with every day thugs and gangsters or street-level criminals and organized crime, add the villains into the mix only made it a rather difficult place to deal with. ‘Wonder if I am making the right choice coming here.’ Corrine couldn’t help thinking as deep down a part of her felt like she was uprooting herself yet again from a place she had grown to know so well.
But she broke from her thoughts when Pietro spoke, suggesting he show her what it was like to run around with his powers. The thought was intriguing and she almost suggested they could do so now before she remembered that she had just ate. Perhaps maybe when her food was digested first then she could consider it. “Perhaps after my food is gone we can try it Pietro, but I don’t think you’d appreciate being thrown up on.” Corrine chuckled, knowing he probably would very much lose any food he had eaten that day or quite frankly lose his own temper if it happened. But the last thing she expected was Pietro’s sudden confession about something else.
In fact, she was left rather speechless at hearing that he was in fact an Avenger and so was his sister. She stared wide eyed for a moment towards the speedster before it slowly began to dawn on her just who he was. The white hair, the speed powers, it was pretty much in front of her this whole time! The Avenger he spoke of couldn’t be anyone other than Quicksilver, an Avenger known for his speed and confidence among the group. She had seen him in news reports from time to time so it began to click together.
“You’re Quicksilver.” It was more a statement then a question as Corrine actually grinned. “Guess it’s my lucky day then. Sure it’s not every day you tell someone who you really are Pietro, maybe I should even get your autograph, my brother’s a fan.” She mused, knowing her brother was a fan of heroes as well, though some more than others of course.
