Richard Rider, or the leader of the Nova Corps and also Nova Prime is on the top. An encounter with Rider is likely and he can probably teach the young and reckless Nova a thing or too about his helmet and how to use his powers. If Sam's going to learn anything, it may as well be from the master himself. Nova Corps' head quarters is on the planet Xandar thus making Sam half Xandrian from his father.
Rocket Raccoon, a highly intelligent rodent (He probably doesn't like being called by that) who had been put under experimentation to what he is today. Rocket Raccoon is very intelligent in weaponry and as well as being a tactical leader. Rocket will probably be an unusual mentor if he can avoid blowing Sam to bits first, that would be a miracle.

Jesse Alexander, Sam's father also alien born to the planet Xandar fell to earth with the Nova Helmet to only wake up with his to be wife right beside him. The two fell in love and over time they had two kids, that would be Sam and Kayleen. However, Jesse had to leave a lot as he went to work in space or to go back to Xandar with the Nova Corps, Sam grew restless with Jesse's constant disappearance and for not being there for the family. It wasn't long before Sam's father disappeared, as he is still missing in a galaxy pretty far away. Sam hasn't given up hope yet since he found the nova helmet. Perhaps he's still alive.

Titus originally was a good but he went rogue, he has decided to try and become a bounty hunter, collecting almost several Nova corps helmets and killed a couple of them. It appears that Titus may be after Sam once he discovers the Nova Helmet is on Terra.
