The sun was well overhead that afternoon as Redwing was nesting in one of the nearby trees as he seemed to be watching out for his owner. It was a bit uncommon to see a hawk out in this area, well it really was in this case, but Redwing considered this to be his home despite the awful treatment that he had been. With everything that was going on, Redwing had come down with Sam to try and see if they could obtain any more information on what had happened to his father. Of course, he was also doing some searching for SHIELD while he was away too. If they had a job up for him as Falcon and Redwing, he’d be ready for it, and so would his avian friend as well.
“I really wonder if coming down here was such a good idea.” The older teenager asked as the falcon rolled its eyes towards its owner in its direction. “And the last thing I need is a bird with attitude.” He added looking back at Redwing knowing the falcon did have a personality of its own, not many seemed to really notice or care for that part of birds. But having been friends with the creature for a couple of months now he could certainly see it, and like friends they had good times and bad time as well.
“Well I’m going to do a little sightseeing; even looking around these parts in Rio might help. Are you going to come?” He asked as the bird seemed content on his perch and shook his head. “Suit yourself.” He said with a shrug before walking off down towards the shopping areas. The day was hot compared to some of the United States since it was still in winter season there. Sam tucked his hands in his jean pants as he began to walk down the steps that lead towards the shop fronts. They had just about everything there from touristy attractions, like items you could take home to bring back to your family, and as well as the regular Rio items that you’d find along the way. Sam wasn’t really looking for anything in particular, he was mostly scoping out the area to see if there was anything that looked kind of fishy or out of place.

Hybrid didn't really know why he bothered coming all this way for a second time. For the most part, things had been going rather decently back in Los Angeles on his end, just handling the usual problems of the city as a vigilante. It was perhaps no where near as well patrolled and protected as New York with all its heroes but he was finding himself being able to handle things just fine. SHIELD hadn't exactly discovered his whereabouts or were leaving him be and no one had really wanted to bother him in general.
But his reason for being here? Hybrid actually was following up on a lead involving a crime ring he had help discover and take out but there were still some remnants being linked all the way back to South America, leading him there to Rio, Brazil where it was busy, noisy, and crowded, very much like where he was living now. But upon arriving and feeling himself needing to focus more on the matter than his own annoyance, Hybrid had fallen to the control of Lasher, his most calm persona if still a bit violent. His red and black hide had now shifted to a green and black, showing which persona was currently in control.
Lasher hadn't even bothered with trying to shift to that of his Scott Washington disguise since he was taking this as a "business trip" of sorts, firing a web of matter among the buildings and swinging from one to the next. Should he have been trying better to conceal himself? Perhaps. But he was trying to see faces, watch for shady activity of sorts since larger cities seemed to the be where crimes was drawn to. "Hard to find anything unusual in a place like this, too many tourists among the natives, just seems to all blend together. How anyone can find anything is beyond me." Lashe muttered in annoyance as he moved along a roof, looking at each individual he could.
Finding nothing exceptionally shady, Lasher fired a webbing to the next building, unaware of Sam being among the crowd as he swung over the heads of those below, his shadow being visible on the gorund as he moved.

Sam seemed to be looking at the merchandise, wondering to himself if there was anything that he could bring back with him before he left the week. South America had been unusually warm but not to unusual to find its own fair share of super heroes or villains in the area. As he picked up something that looked like an old tiki head, he looked down rather quickly noticing an unusual shape of a shadow fly past him...or at least it appeared to be flying from what he thought. "What the?" Sam asked blinking his eyes a few times, he would've thought at first it was Redwing playing a game on him, but as far as he knew the bird was still nesting in one of the nearby trees away from the crowds, so it couldn't be him. "Sir did you find anything you wanted?" The woman asked behind the counter as Sam nodded.
"I'll think about it for a bit ma'am I have to go, unfortunately. You've got a lot of neat objects here." He said putting the wooden tiki head back on the table. As Sam quickly went to change behind one of the alley streets, his red wings appeared before him. He'd be fine without Redwing, figured the bird could use a break from flying with him in a plane.
As Falcon put on his armor he quickly checked his helmet seeing a figure jumping from building to building, he thought at first it might've been Spider-Man but wasn't he normally in New York? According to SHIELD there were plenty of other spider characters out there, so it might've not been him. He opened up his hands and pushed them backwards giving him enough thrust to start the wings. They would rely on the sun to power them next as he started gliding through the air to try and catch up to this strange spider person. But what Sam had no idea was this was actually 4 Symbiotes in one.
"You know it's not every day you see someone jumping from the buildings in South America, it might as well be more common in New York...but from the looks of things you look...harmless for the most part." Sam said trying to be careful on the right words to say here. He didn't want to get into a fight that he could've avoided. Sam wasn't interested in causing unnecessary fights, he was also a bit more thoughtful about them before jumping or pressing things. This guy could've been trying to do some good for a change as he got closer to where Hybrid had been. It was hard to miss the webbing that stuck to walls from where he had forced them to cling to the buildings. "The name's Falcon by the way." He said trying to have a friendly face, but he was prepared if things got ugly. NOt everyone liked SHIELD personnel hanging around them.

The last think Lasher or any of the four symbiotes would have expected is the appearance of someone from SHIELD, especially way down in these parts. They had been focusing on their search, eyes never leaving the faces of those below them and coming to cling to the side of a building so they could observe and watch. Rio was quite a large place by the coast, full of people coming and going places and it was hard to narrow down their search area. Perhaps he had to pull some make shift detective work and find his answers through the police.
Though, that was quickly squashed when Sam spoke, causing the Lasher persona to snap his attention from the crowds below and look towards the young agent, eyes narrowed slightly. Where exactly had this kid come from? It was clear from his accent and voice that he was not from the area but from the United States like their former host and much like Kaine Reilly who they had met in a different part of the continent. A part of him wondered whatever happened to Reilly, largely wondering if he had ever found what he had been looking for. To say the least, this world was not always a pleasant place and it was difficult to find some place you could feel at home much less find that niche that allowed one to grow. Hybrid just happened to find his in Los Angeles, far from New York and away from where he could be bombarded by SHIELD or other heroes, some who might like having him on a team for his capabilities.
"Harmless? That's a funny one kid." Lasher chuckled in amusement, extending some sharp tendrils to stab into the side of the building to keep himself in place as he crossed his arms. "But harmless is hardly what I am." The mixed symbiote being spoke in a matter-of-fact tone. But, he did pick up the slight hesitation in Sam as if he was trying to decide his words and could figure he didn't look as harmless as Sam was trying to speak of. Lasher would hardly call himself and his three companions harmless anymore, especially with their appearance seeming rather demonic looking to most. It did certainly give them an advantage though to cast fear into their prey.
Though a part of Lasher did feel rather guarded, eyeing Sam fairly closely and trying to determine if he was associated with anyone. But this young hero showed no immediate affiliation that he could see, causing Lasher to be on further alert since this could be a trick, a nice act didn't mean someone was necessarily that way when it came to meeting strangers. It could be a way to lower their guard, put someone in a false sense of security to strike when they didn't expect it. To say the least, the four symbiotes were indeed suspicious and watchful. Lasher even decided to relinquish his control to fall back on the combined persona Hybrid had named himself for, returning to his usual red and black hide before Sam's eyes as Hybrid kept his gaze on Sam.
"But I think my real concern is who are you and who are you working for? You seem awfully young to be out this way on your own or without some business." Hybrid pointed out with slight suspicion clear in his voice.

Sam seemed almost hesitant at telling Hybrid why he was there. It was certainly police work, but it was his own buisness at the same time. He had been looking behind the reason of his father's death and it lead him to Rio. But if he hadn't gond, he would have never met Redwing. It is interesting how decisions that they made in life affected the future. He sighed figuring he had no way around this situation. He evenn noticed how Hybrid had changed colors. Perhaps he needed to be on his guard too, "I am with SHIELD, but I am in Rio for my own personal buisness." Sam explained, "SHIELD has no buisness in Rio they know I am down here but that's it." Sam explained trying to lighten the possible tension that was forming between the two. And the oast thing he wanted was a fight.
"If I were to attack you, I would have done it by now." Sam pointed out. The young agent opened up his arms again and flapped his wings one more time to get some lift in the air. Today was a good day for flying but he hoped things would calm down soon. Maybe he started off on the wrong foot. Just because they looked like a masked person didn't mean they were bad.
"My name is Falcon by the way. I am sorry if we got off on the wrong foot or wing in my case." Sam explained hoping with these word it might change Hybrid's mind. But he had no idea that there were four minds and four symbiotes instead of one. But as for Kaine Riley, Sam had no idea that his name had entered the SHIELD database under his code name Scarlet Spider. But had been all an act to get into trouble, this certainly wasn't an act.

Hybrid actually tensed at the mention of SHIELD and all four of his personas were beginning to argue one what actions to take. Phage and Riot wanted to make this kid disappear so they couldn't be found out while Agony wanted to make an example of him instead. Luckily, it was Lasher who still held control and made a move to overwrite such thoughts before they overwhelmed their combined form. "You say you are here for personal business, Falcon. If you do decide to do a report to SHIELD I ask you keep me out of it." Hybrid said to him, managing to keep himself calm but his clenched fists made it clear that he was quite unsure and tense.
"I'll level with you kid. SHIELD isn't exactly popular in a lot of places, and honestly I use to work for the organization myself as well so I think you'd be better off leaving while you still can. It'll only bring you trouble and problems later on." Hybrid told him, practically admitting something very few actually knew of Hybrid He couldn't recall the last time he had actually mentioned his past occupation, though that was just revealing a very small part of his past. There was much more than that but Hybrid wasn't all for revealing everything at this point in time. He didn't exactly know if he could trust Sam to heed his words and maybe just think he was someone going off the deep end and only showing distaste of SHIELD and lying about things.
After a moment though, he sighed. "My name is Hybrid, I currently am a vigilante in Los Angeles, far away from New York and far from SHIELD's prying eyes. In case it's not obvious, I'm...a symbiote of sorts if you know what they are." He introduced himself, trying to be calm but he couldn't help the tension still taking hold of him. SHIELD sometimes didn't exactly show trustworthiness and they tended to go after those who deserted the organization. But Hybrid had no reason to sell secrets or make use of them, quite frankly he wanted to be as far away from SHIELD as possible.

"I know SHIELD has some bad rep, but they do help people...They've helped me understand how it is to be...well me. Falcon. I was just a boy growing up on the street and instead of going down a dark path that could've been it, I decided that SHIELD would be the better place to go." Falcon said wondering if just about everywhere he went there would be this 'bad rep' for SHIELD. They often acted more like law enforcement instead of trying to save the city like they were supposed to do.
Perhaps he aut to tell Hybrid why he was there, it was just one person after all. He'd understand...even if he looked a bit unusual, you'd be surprised these days who were the heroes were and who were the bad guys were as well. He opened up his wings once more to take a flap to stay aloft, his wings acted like giant gliders to keep him in the air. "I came to Rio because my dad was killed when a random gang violence out break occurred in New York. He was about as innocent as you could come by, he worked as a minister for a priest and often preached for hope and peace on a regular basis...it almost seems ironic that he'd be the one killed in such things. I was on his case to try and find anything that was behind my father's death. At one time I went to Rio, in the past before I came to SHIELD and didn't find much. But I thought returning would at least help. But trust me I'm not staying for long, I am leaving once Monday comes around since SHIELD will want me back." Falcon explained wondering if he had said too much. But it was too late now, and the truth was out.
"So you're name's Hybrid? And I've heard of Symbiotes from SHIELD's profile's on their work...you're interesting to say the least that you enhance other's abilities. But that's about all that I know of." Falcon admitted knowing if he got too curious with them, the old phrase "curioisity killed the cat" would come forward. "My name is Falcon by the way." He added seeing that he might as well exchange names himself. "But I promise, I won't tell SHIELD about you. This is just between you and me." He said knowing he had pretty much left all or anything of SHIELD back in his apartment.
As Falcon flapped his wings again he heard a distress call coming from behind him seeing that his friend Redwing the falcon was flying towards him, mostly for his owner's sake and almost set up an alarm. "Everything is fine Redwing, you don't need to be protective all the time." He said, and with a command, the red colored bird obeyed, a bit reluctantly too. "Stop!" He said with a deep command. "You'll have to forgive my friend here, he's a bit on the...territorial side." He admitted knowing falcons in real life were often protective of territory. This was no different since Redwing was his, but he disliked it whenever someone new came in, Redwing acted this way.

"There is a reason SHIELD has a bad rep. They may help some people but others they make miserable, use them for nothing but their powers. Its the only reason SHIELD has any profiles or information on us. I just hope your experiences won't be like what I went through." Hybrid told him. The organization had always kept a close eye on him, making sure he cooperated for the sake of his former host being unharmed. They would use them for all sorts of missions and sometimes even looked down on them in some views of the agents. Some saw them as scum and others saw them as simple tools for war, making Hybrid less then thrilled to ever think of the organization in a positive light. Then again, when have any secret organizations meant anything good?
Falcon's mention of knowing a little about Symbiotes made Hybrid scoff softly, seeing that SHIELD didn't realize a lot of information but enough. "Most of our kind are capable of forming a symbiotic relationship with other life forms, making them into warriors of peace and justice. Symbiotes though can become strong and learn to...not need a host." Hybrid explained, holding out a hand as he formed four small figures, two muscular masculine looking figures, a smaller and leaner masculine one, and a feminine looking figure, "I am a mixture of four Symbiotes, which is why I am called Hybrid. I once had a host, but...I lost him. But in our combined state I do not require a host, although we are capable of taking one if we wished to, but so far seen it as unnecessary."
The mention of a gang made Hybrid become rather attentive then. All four of his personas listened to Sam's story and the reason for being there, which reminded them painfully of their own host being killed by a gang, killed in cold blood while they had returned the favor. It seemed Sam was after the same thing or trying to bring the ones who had harmed his father to justice. "That is a similar reason to why we came to Los Angeles. Our host, Scott Washington, was killed by a gang as well, and when we learned this and SHIELD not helping him, we took matters into our own claws. We thought SHIELD could help him, it was why we worked for them but we left because we no longer believed in the organization to keep their word or cared for helping." Hybrid explained fully, understanding the anger and need to get the revenge, though it probably was far more than what Sam would be willing to do. "Our abilities allowed us to get revenge, perhaps one day you will get yours."
But at the falcon's cry, Hybrid immediately moved to clinging to the wall, ready to strike until Sam called Redwing off, eyeing the creature carefully. "I suppose that pet of yours is protective then." Hybrid remarked.

"Hm I wonder if there's any connection to the two killings...my father's just seemed pointless, it was out of pure hate on what he did. He was a preacher and preached very often for peace...oddly enough that didn't come for him." Falcon said with a sigh as he knew that he felt responsible for his father. His mother and sister were busy working jobs while he worked for SHIELD. They'd never find any hope for what had happened at the same time. But Sam did take notice in what Hybrid had said, having four minds must've been interesting, but he knew his own telepathic link towards Redwing must've been similar to that. Except Redwing wasn't that complicated to four other minds with different personalities...they must've argued a lot.
"That's unfortunate for your own host. Maybe you can find answers like I have been trying to do. But I don't plan on staying long since SHIELD will need me back." Sam said with a sigh knowing he might have to come back to Brazil and to see if he could look in other dark corners of this place. Or just search around New York. So far he hadn't found anything worth while, but finding Hybrid out here had been a surprise. He was aware that there were other spider heroes or villains out there. He had just never encountered one, at least this one seemed to be on their own accord.
"Yes this is Redwing, he usually is pretty good, but being that he doesn't know anyone down here and he was held captive here about a year or so ago, I can see why he would act like this. And so I apologize for my friend's poor response earlier." He said apologizing for Redwing. In his own mind he could see that Redwing didn't trust Hybrid, but that may change over time. Sam trusted him and that was all that matter. "I found Redwing here the last time I came to Brazil, I guess it's an odd companionship that we have." He admitted.
"Note to self." He muttered but he was sure Hybrid could hear him. "Falcons are often very territorial." He added, knowing Redwing probably treated as if he were his own kin. He had raised Redwing for several years now so the bird was indeed very loyal and feisty too when you got on his bad side. But he was relieved to see that Redwing hadn't chosen the opposite, he decided not to listen and attack Hybrid...he might as well be a snack for him.

“I highly doubt there is a connection Falcon. Our host lived on the harsh side of Los Angeles where it sounds like your family has lived in Harlem. Definitely not an easy place to live.” Hybrid remarked in return, relaxing a bit more when Redwing didn’t make a move to attack, though he could figure there was no trust for him. At the moment, the combined symbiote was in a similar position as he eyed the Falcon with equal intensity. There was intelligence clear in the bird’s expression which the four symbiotes couldn’t help admiring and understanding in a way, it was almost like an extension of Sam just as they had been an extension of Scott.
Though he turned his attention back to Sam once more. “I already got the answers I needed kid, that was why I extracted my revenge and deserted SHIELD. I couldn’t rely on them to help so I had to take matters into my own hands rather than relying on an outside source who didn’t care for our plight.” Hybrid told him, raising his bone-white colored claws open then clenching it as emphasis. “And the only reason I’m down here is to pursue a lead on a criminal ring that was going on in Los Angeles. I got a lead that brought me down here and I’ve been searching for signs of unusual activity before we ran into one another. Then again, suppose running into a random hero is unusual itself.” Hybrid said, rubbing his chin when he thought about it.
Though from the exchange it was probably clear the combined symbiote wasn’t exactly a hero. Rather, he seemed split down the middle of maintaining peace but not being above killing if necessary, and sometimes he couldn’t help it. Phage and Riot in control normally meant there would be chaos and trouble to follow, and sometimes Lasher and Agony couldn’t help that nor stop them until they had had their fill or someone was forced to take them down. “But I shouldn’t keep you if you’re on a time crunch kid, we both got things to do.”

"Well I guess I'll just have to keep trying on my end then." Falcon said but it was clear he didn't want to give up on finding out what happened to his family. His mother and sister had been crushed by the sudden death. Sam felt responsible for it and was forced to take up the 'man of the house' when his mother wasn't around. He didn't mind the job but it gave him a sense of responsibility. "I know I'll get lucky I just try to keep my chin up even when things look bad." He said knowing his positive attitude had helped him in several cases and he hoped it would now.
"I will say Hybrid that I won't mention you on any reports that come my way when I return to SHIELD." Sam said with a soft nod but he looked at Falcon with a serious look. As if to say 'don't get any ideas.' Towards him since he knew Redwing might try something funny when they were back on SHIELD. Falcon may have to have followed certain orders, but Redwing wasn't out of the woods yet either. Finally the bird rolled his eyes as if to say sarcastically he would listen. But it would mean he'd need lots and lots of treats. That was bribing the bird almost.
"Alright if you wish to go I won't hold you back. You don't seem that bad if you ask me." Sam said as he paused to think of it. "But I do know one thing, SHIELD has at least two trainee spider heroes on on the team already. If you ever run across them tell them you know a fellow trainee named Falcon. But I think they'd understand anyway." He said not realizing that there were plenty other spider characters out there as well. Including Scarlet Spider. But like Hybrid, he found his own path and was trying to figure out what to do, but if Hybrid ever made his way back into New York he might just spot the red and black suited anti hero again.
"Come on Redwing, let's get flying a gain I want to stretch my wings." He said as he flapped his wings preparing to take off with one powerful thrust. The young man had a lot to learn and compared to Hybrid, he was the more experienced one there than Falcon. Redwing gave Hybrid one last look, as if still determining to figure out if Hybrid was good or bad. Finally he seemed to understand why Falcon had taken an interest in him and let out a soft cackle, out to Hybrid as if to say good bye in bird tongue and took off after his friend. Redwing had learned by now that Hybrid wasn't someone you wanted to mess with, or he might as well become a snack later!

"Chances are it won't matter, Falcon. SHIELD has it's ways of knowing when you aren't telling everything no matter how hard you might try." Hybrid told him, watching the young man and the red falcon begin to take off to do their own investigation. It seemed for a moment the bird lingered, causing Hybrid to look right back at the bird, waiting for it to react or ignore Sam and attack anyway. But it soon seemed to relent, even giving a sort of good bye call in which Hybrid gave a simple nod in response.
Watching them leave, Hybrid could only wonder about what Sam had said. There were others among SHIELD being trained, possibly because of the powers they had and the potential threat they could be if taken under the wing of someone else, hero or villain at this rate. It made Hybrid feel somewhat sorry for those who were recruited. Not all of them deserved to be there and others probably didn't realize the real purpose of their recruitment. If Sam was anything to go by the probably were too young to know, kept in the dark like Hybrid had been about what SHIELD had really been doing with his combined state and his host. They hadn't cared and that was clear to the four Symbiotes, and it seemed it might happen to others all to soon.
'Poor young saps, simple tools to be used in SHIELD's personal war. Wonder how long before they realize SHIELD doesn't care for them so much as using their potential for their own means.' Hybrid thought before finally continuing on his way to follow his own lead.
