Benjamin “Ben” Reilly
“The Spider”
Name: Benjamin Reilly
Nicknames: Ben
Gender: Male
Age: 10 (aged artificially)
Actor/Actress Comic
Affiliation: Unaffiliated
Personality: Much like Peter, Ben remembers growing up a geeky science kid in an era where science kids were most often beaten for their lunch money. And the death of his beloved Uncle Ben. He also remembers the pain and trauma of both George and Gwen’s deaths. Along with his exile after finding out he was a clone, he has developed a lot more of the ‘Parker luck’ baggage. And while in recent years he has become more heroic and learned to fight through the despair he almost let cripple him, he is a much harder hero than he remembers being as a teen. He still wise cracks and uses his mouth as a distraction, but he’s got less compunction about the damage he causes bad guys when pushed.
He still carries the weight of responsibility as heavily as he ever did, but he’s learned to embrace the Spider-Man, and now Spider, moniker with a certain grounded sense of reality. Being able to focus on being the hero for several years has taught him valuable lessons about how a work/life balance was so hard before and so much easier when remembers that the dual identity is really only in his own mind. Ironic, he admits, coming from a clone.
Appearance: He appears to be a physically fit man in his late 20s who regularly dyes his hair blonde. Unlike when he was younger he tends to keep it a big shaggier as a way of differentiating himself from Peter. His costume, an unstable molecule suit designed to change to various different costume styles depending on need, is more scientifically augmented than the usual fair of most Spider-Heroes. He also includes extra web-shooters, a utility belt and a utility piece he wears as an ear communicator that works as a HUD under his costume.
Family Tree:

Peter Parker: Genetic Template/’Brother’
Mary Jane Parker: ‘Sister in Law’

Various other Clones
History:
Years ago Peter Parker was cloned by the madman known as the Jackal. In a bid to replace Spider-Man he created a clone, one thought to be completely perfect unlike so many others who were unstable. This clone fought Spider-Man but was eventually defeated. Still recovering from the beating and fearful people would find the corpse of a Spider-Clone with Peter’s face, he threw the body into a smoke stack, hoping it would take care of the evidence and let him keep his life without exposing himself.
In reality the clone had survived and when Peter threw him into the stack he awoke in time to save himself from a gruesome death. That day the man who had all of Peter’s memories realized he was nothing but a clone and believed himself worthless. He fled, taking the name of his Uncle Ben and his Aunt May’s maiden name. With that he moved around aimlessly for years, never quite able to stop himself from helping those in need in his travels. He even crafted a new suit to help him lay low and seem like a second rate Spider-Man impersonator.
When Aunt May’s health took a downward turn he returned to New York, peeking in on her and sad that he couldn’t visit her for fear he’d reveal his secret or Peter’s. Peter, however, discovered him and the two formed a kind of partnership. When Seward Trainer tried to convince them that Ben was the real Spider-Man and Peter was the clone, the two didn’t separate immediately. Instead they worked together to discover the truth and proved that Seward was a liar.
However once Mary Jane became pregnant, Peter wanted to scale back his Spider-Man activities, but was worried about the impact it would have on local crime. He and Ben came to an agreement. Peter would use their combined technical know-how to make money and work as Spider-Man when needed while Ben would work almost full time as Spider-Man and keep the streets safe with Peter as ‘tech support’ so he could help and keep himself safe for his child. By the time baby May was two, Peter was developing R&D for Horizon Labs and they were all making enough money to live comfortably.
As a full time hero Ben was able to join the Avengers and, with the help of their paycheck and a room at the Avengers Mansion, he was able to help finally erase some of the stigma of Spider-Man for some people (though admittedly not for J. Jonah Jameson). In the months leading up to his reality’s collapse, he, Peter, Reed and several other heroes had been studying odd data from several sources. Together they tried to figure out the issue, but in the last days before everything changed, the realized they were only learning too late.
In desperation an ‘arc’ of sorts was created. A way to send the loved ones of the earth’s heroes into the Negative Zone in hopes it would spare them. A station there would provide them with a place to live and thrive indefinitely or until they could bring them home. Despite Peter’s protests, Ben convinced him to join them. Knowing they would need at least a few heroes willing to help protect the others in case they were attacked, and a mind like his could be useful regardless, he relented.
As the arc was leaving the distortion wave struck. In the chaos had to scramble to finish the launch procedures for the shuttle while the other heroes tried to stave off the change. Just before the entire reality was rearranged Ben had to manually engage the Negative-Drive in the docking bay. The field hit him at the same time as the pulsewave that distorted his reality and when he awoke he was on top of the Baxter Building, but weak and beaten.
In the weeks after he discovered that the world he knew was done and he was deposited somewhere else that was… different. Heroes were similar but not, history was changed somehow and the events of his life had changed. Once again he was adrift as a clone and had no way to find out of the arc worked as the research on how to get to the Negative Zone vanished after the change.
Currently he works as a consultant for Horizon Labs while working as ‘The Spider’ as to seem like a backup or Spider-Man impersonator. Because of his need to find his family he lost, in hopes they’re still in the pocket dimension, he has been known to ‘borrow’ equipment from villains he helps bring to justice.
Super Powers:
Superhuman Strength: Ben possesses the proportionate strength of a spider, granting him superhuman strength. He was capable of lifting 10 tons or more when under extreme stress. Him strength extends into his leg muscles which allows him to leap 30 feet vertically without a problem.
Superhuman Stamina: Ben can to exert himself intensely for several hours before the build up of fatigue toxins begins to affect him.
Superhuman Durability: The composition of Ben's skeleton, inter-connected tissues, and nervous system is all greatly enhanced. His bodily tissues were somewhat more durable and resistant to impact or trauma than an ordinary human, although he was certainly not invulnerable. While his body was tougher than an ordinary human, he could still be injured in ways comparable to an ordinary human.
Regenerative Healing Factor: However, if injured, his body is capable of regenerating faster than an ordinary human being.
Superhuman Agility: Ben has extraordinarily limber his tendons and connective tissues that are twice as elastic as the average human being's, despite their enhanced strength.
Spider-Sense: Like Peter, Ben’s spider-sense acts as an early warning system for attacks. Allowing him to subconsciously detect and react to threats as they unfold. Combined with his reflexes he can react to bullets in the air within feet of himself. Unlike Peter his spider-sense will allow him to react to Venom, and vice versa, as he was never bonded with the symbiote.
Superhuman Reflexes: Ben’s reflexes are 15 times faster than the average human. He can dodge bullets within feet of hitting him, maneuver around punches and kicks easily and even react to traffic patterns well enough that he can expertly dodge traffic even when swinging into it.
Superhuman Speed: Ben is fast enough to outrun cars attempting to flee using only his feet. However he prefers to web swing.
Superhuman Equilibrium: Ben can achieve a state of perfect equilibrium in any position imaginable. He seems able to adjust his position by instinct, which enables him to balance himself on virtually any object, no matter how small or narrow. He has developed a unique fighting style that makes full use of his agility, strength, and equilibrium.
Wall-Crawling: Ben can mentally control his ability to adhere to surfaces with his hands and feet, allowing him to crawl on otherwise vertical or upside down surfaces without issue.
Weaknesses:
Ethyl Chloride: Perhaps as a side effect of gaining his powers, Ben is susceptible to the pesticide ethyl chloride. This chemical is frequently used as a weapon by the Spider-Slayers.
Pill Dependency: Because he is a clone, and because the cellular degradation of his body was triggered in his world before the realities seemed to somehow converge. As such he must take medication every day or his health will degrade rapidly as his cellular structure simply breaks down.

Roleplaying Sample: Gunshots were, he reflected, really really loud in close spaces. And that was before you added in painfully silly things like really large handguns that, not to be too judgemental, somehow seemed to be carried by guys always trying to compensate for something. So when the bullets started cracking off the bricks of the alley while Ben hopped and twisted to dodge them he was more miffed about the prospect of hearing loss than he was at being hit. Nevermind the rather upset looking guy with the face tattoos and an underarmor shirt pulling the trigger as he kicked off the dumpster and twisted in air while counting bullets.
Five… six… seven… man I miss revolvers. When did those go out of style anyway? Twisting as the bullets kept coming he extended one arm, bending his wrist and activating the web shooter as he did so. The guy with the gun was, to his credit, at least decently fast and twisted his left shoulder away and the web line missed him by centimeters. For his part, Ben grabbed the line and smiled under the mask, “Why do you guys always shoot at me? I mean, really.”
Yanking the line he zipped down at high speed, missing the next two hastily fired bullets by simply bending out of the way. The man tried to hop away, but Ben’s fist flew in and took him in the chest so hard he flew back, but left the gun spinning almost in place in the air. Snatching it from the air before finishing his downward fall into a tumble, Ben stood and looked at the gun, “I’m just saying, all you guys shoot at me, then look so perplexed when I dodge out of the way. It’s like you haven’t seen that trick on the news before, am I right?”
Pulling a knife from his pocket the man stood and tried to look menacing as he snapped the blade open. Ben groaned in his mask and tossed the gun behind him into the open dumpster, “Oh come on! A knife? Are you serious?” The first swipe went in high and Ben bent back, letting his natural ability to wall crawl keep him from falling back. The guy recovered quickly and started a series of stabs and swipes at his core. Ben twisted away from the first, threw his hips back to dodge the next and swatted his hand away for the third casually, the whole time looking at the man in front of him, “I mean, I get it. You have a face tattoo, so sure you’re use to making poor life choices. But I dodge bullets and your backup is a knife?”
With a snarl the man stabbed high, trying to catch him in the neck. Ben turned slightly, grabbing the guy’s wrist with his right hand and pulling him forward just slightly. His left elbow cocked back and took the man straight in the mouth hard enough to splinter his front two teeth and put him out instantly. As the man crumbled Ben put his hands on his hips and sighed as he looked at him, “And I bet you don’t even have dental, do you? Do you have any idea how ridiculous you’re going to look with two missing teeth and a face tattoo? Seriously, man, I know a guy who has a laser. We can fix that tattoo before the cops show up, you know.”
