The contest of champions had been pretty much started at this point in time as the other heroes and villains hand started to meet and determined if they wanted to fight or not. Johnny had been at the Avenger's Tower before being transported from his own room to some plaace else. As he quickly adjusted to his surroundings, he began to realize that he was very far from New York City. "Where am I?" He asked noticing the large and ancient foliage around him. "I bet I can get a better look from above. Flame on!" He called out as his body lit up in flames as he shot through the sky. He was stunned to see that this ancient looking forest was indeed very alive from the looks of things.
Massive creatures that you would've heard from history class soared through the skies and roamed down below. The reptilian scales on their back only meant one thing! They were dinosaurs! "I'm in the savage lands? You've got to be kidding me." Johnny said with a frown as he nearly dodged getting hit by a pterodactyl a bird that had been pretty much been extinct for some time now.
"Welcome Human Torch! You have been chosen as a participate in the Contest of Champions. Your final pick will be against the werewolf known as Valrufur the Cursed." The Collector explained knowing that this was the final round. The stage had been set for everyone as they had to lay back and watch the rest. These fights were interesting and as far as he was concerned, only the strongest of the strong would remain victorious.
"Are you kidding me? I got brought here against my own will. I've got better things to do!" Johnny protested. But just as he got no answer, it seemed fate had other things in store for him as a loud t-rex seemed to be angry with the sudden appearance of intruders. It came smashing through, knocking down anything in its path and headed straight for Johnny. But he wasn't about to let this overgrown lizard tell him what to do. "I'm not about to become lizard meat either." He said as he put up his hands creating a wall of flames around him to try and stop the giant creature or at least scare him away from the area. And so far it seemed to have worked.

Valrulfur couldn’t believe what had just happened. One moment he had been wandering an Earth town somewhere in Canada, where he had ended up transported after speaking with Els and then he was somewhere else. In fact, this had not been the doing of the transportation device there on Knowhere and the act of someone else. It infuriated him that someone was interfering with his job and exploration of Midgard. His first guess would have been Hela calling him unannounced yet again as she had done many times before. If it had been, he would have been ready for any punishment or back talk if she questioned his methods for what seemed the millionth time.
But when he felt dirt and grass beneath his large pawed feet and the smell of nothing but wilderness struck his nostrils as his eyes adjusted it was clear this was not in fact Hel. No, this was a much different place. As Valrulfur took in his surroundings, he began seeing it resembled Earth’s ancient past that many of the older Asgardians had spoken of. And in the distance, he could see reptilian like creatures wandering the land, eating and chewing at the ancient foliage which made him frown in wonder. He almost was fixing to take off in some direction to try and find higher ground, maybe get a gauge for where he was until he heard the booming voice, ears going back in rage at realizing he was being pulled into some kind of game.
“Seriously? I’m not everyone’s little pawn for their amusement.” Val snarled in rage, but there seemed little he could do. He began moving at last, trying to find this Johnny Storm he was supposed to be facing, as much as he really didn’t want to bother with facing someone who was most likely a mortal. But it wasn’t long before he heard the angry roar of the t-rex, making Valrulfur’s fur stand on end in preparation for trouble, leaping onto a large branch and running along the branches. They weren’t exactly the high ground he was looking for but they would have to do in this case.
Before long, Valrulfur finally came across Johnny, trying to defend himself from the larger, predatory reptile compared to the ones he had seen. With a growl, he launched himself from the tree and rammed into the dinosaur’s side, causing it to become off balanced at first before it caught itself and quickly took off. Between the fire and unexpected creature that could use such force it seemed unwilling to take it’s chances. “Hmph, not so tough when something bigger and badder comes around.” Valrulfur remarked before he turned from where he had landed, looking at the flames. Where these flames coming from a Midgardian? Interesting. He had heard humanity had potential, but he hadn’t exactly believed such rumors until just now, intrigued and slightly excited for a good fight.
“So you must be Johnny, I didn’t think this would be worth being dragged here. But you got my attention with those flames of yours. Should be a good fight.” Valrulfur said, already crouched and poised to fight, not seeming to care that this could get them both hurt or even going off the chance of not fighting at all.

Johnny was amazed as some creature came out of no where. And before the T-Rex knew what it him he was down and out for the count. Johnny opened up his eyes surprised to see someone else was there. He had taken down the creature without even lifting a finger which was even more impressive. "Well they said that T-Rex's had tiny brains. I guess the saying is true." Johnny said knowing the dinosaur had been mad and angry like the Hulk but he didn't seem to know what to do when he came face to face with another creature that could attack or even take another person down with ease. Perhaps he had really met his match here.
"Well my code name's the Human Torch, but yes that's me." Johnny said. "I'd say we both got dragged into this...Contest of Champions." Johnny added as he crossed his arms.
"My sister may be in this fighting ring as well, but I hope she has had better luck than I've had with this Contest of Champions. Getting eaten by a t-rex isn't on my bucket list." JOhnny said. "But I'd be willing to put up a fight, just try to give me a bit of a chance to come and attack back." He said half wondering if he had said too much towards Valrufur. He looked intimidating, not to mention...was he part wolf?
As Johnny's body burned up in flames, he figured he could at least give the guy the story on how he came to be. And how the Fantastic Four should've been around too, but it seemed all of them went their separate ways. "We were supposed to be a group called the Fantastic Four. One guy has a really elastic body, another is made of rock, and my sister who can turn invisible. And then there's yours truly." He said knowing that he would probably want to hear the rest of it. "But anyways, I've been talking too much. Flame on!" He said as he created a large fire ball into his hands. And he pretty much increased it in size, it was probably bigger than his body, maybe twice at that point as he absorbed all the flames and heat he could get. He then threw it towards Valrufur, figuring that if he wanted flames, he certainly got them.

Valrulfur waited for Johnny to confirm it was indeed him and he wasn’t wasting his time approaching the wrong being or mortal. It seemed when Johnny came out of his shocked stupor he finally began to talk…and talk more than the Asgardian werewolf was expecting.
“Kid, can’t you save the back story for when we’re not having to fight and figure out whose doing this to us and maybe others? Don’t get me wrong I’m intrigued a Midgardian has abilities but now isn’t exactly the time to explain them.” Valrulfur pointed out, knowing the kid probably wasn’t expecting someone who looked like a werewolf to be there either. Much as he wanted to return the favor now wasn’t exactly the time to do so. One of them had to win this match and get to the next one, or ones so some answers could be given.
Finally though, Johnny seemed to get the memo that standing there and talking wasn’t going to do either of them much good right about now. Better yet, Johnny didn’t waste time in starting to power up an attack making Valrulfur grin slightly. “Now we’re talking. And all you need to know me as is Death Wolf and pray that you are not going to be my next victim.” Valrulfur growled, quickly trying to dodge the fireball but snarled as it still grazed his back and causing the smell of burned fur to fill the air, making him wince from the burning that went down to his skin. So, that fire was pretty hot after all, not just a harmless flame to be snuffed out. Not so easily at least.
Once he turned to face Johnny, Valrulfur began trying to figure out his own attack before he noticed a large boulder. That would do. “Hope you can play catch!” He called as he seemed to lift the boulder easily from its spot, spinning on the spot a few times before launching it right for Johnny.

Johnny's strongest ability here was something he liked to call the Super Nova. But it was too strong and too risky. Say if a meteorite whiped out the dinosaurs from long ago like the scientists say, it could very well happen again if Johnny used it. Since his flames got so hot it could very well burn down a whole city block if he raised his temperatures to high of his flames. The Super Nova was no laughing matter, but he knew it'd possibly do more damage to Valrufur than he'd regret and it wouldn't be a fair fight.
"Oh boy." He said as he spotted the large boulder, Valrufur's strength was incredible. He could've matched it with the Hulk's. And with that he werewolf began to throw the boulder right at Johnny. With his fast reaction he tried to dodge it and just barely missed it as it left a large crater in the ground near him. "Wow that was something." He said. "You know you could go against the Hulk one day and maybe even outbest him." He said crossing his arms a bit. Johnny really didn't want to fight, but it seemed they had no choice but to do so.
But the pause was only short enough as Johnny lit up his hands and began to throw some smaller fire balls towards Valrufur. The smell of something being synged was in the air as Johnny's flames lit up the sky around them like several large fireworks. The dinosaurs by now had pretty much fled from the area. Or the ones that were left were simply curious to see what was going on. Johnny could see some..what were they called again...he should've been paying attention in those ancient history classes they were called pterodactyls. They had wings like bats but sharp beaks to add to it. They squealing and squaking as they went by. "I am just curious where are we anyways?" He asked having never heard of the Savage Lands before. It felt like they had been sent back in time when they were really on a tiny island in the middle of the ocean.
Heck maybe he needed to pay attention to the movie Jurrasic Park again.
"We're certainly not in Kansas anymore." He said with a comical tone, but unlike his sister he didn't seem to be aware of the level of the danger that they had just been put into.
